Here is more detailed information of the different species of
fish that I keep. All of these fish are great beginner fish (you know,
since I too am a beginner) and will do well in a range of water conditions.

Angelfish:
- Latin Name:
Pterophyllum Scalare
- Water pH / Temperature:
6.5-7.0 / 76-82 deg F.
- Feeding:
Flake, brine shrimp
- Max. Size:
6"
- Notes:
Angelfish are one of the more beautiful tropical fish.
Best kept in large tanks of 20gal or more. Should be kept with
fish of the same size; they have been known to make a meal of smaller
tank mates. They tend to be territorial once they're mature.

Bala Sharks:
-
Latin Name:
Balantiocheilos Melanopterus
-
Water pH / Temperature:
6.5-7.2 / 74-80 deg. F.
-
Feeding:
Flakes, pellets, brine shrimp
-
Max. Size:
18"
-
Notes:
Very peaceful fish, despite their size. One of my
favorites, very active swimmers. They are a schooling fish, and
do best with 2 or more tank mates. Really should be kept in
tanks of 55gal or more.

Chinese
Algae Eater:
- Latin Name:
Gyrinocheilos aymonieri
- Water pH / Temperature:
7.0-7.3 / 75-80 deg. F.
- Feeding:
Algae, vegetable tablets
- Max. Size:
6"
- Notes:
Probably the best algae eater, especially when
young. Mine cleaned out the 10gal tank in about 3 days.
And this was with the back glass 75% covered in algae! Recommend
a large tank for these guys, they do grow fast, and their eating habits
slow down once they start getting bigger.
