Images of the Sun are taken with a proper solar filter.  DO NOT EVER look at the Sun through any optical device without a proper solar filter!  If your scope has solar filters that screw onto the eyepiece, throw them away!  DO NOT use them!  The only safe and proper filter is one that fits on the front of your telescope, like a dust cap.

My filter is just a natural light filter.  About the only detail that can be seen are sunspots, which aren't always visible.  Sometimes I use a #21 Orange filter on the camera to give a more "natural" look.
